IIHT chooses Dell to provide 'Datacenter-as-a-Service' on its Cloud

IIHT Cloud Solutions Pvt. Ltd,. a subsidiary arm of IIHT Limited, announced Dell as its trusted solution platform to realize its vision of creating one of the world's first vertical cloud services solution for IT Training, Test and Development Industry. The IIHT Cloud Solutions formed a consortium of best solution providers comprising of ESDS and Nestor to power its Cloud Platform. The IIHT Cloud is one of the India's largest cloud installations. The multi-million dollar ESG (Enterprise Solutions Group) and datacenter deal follows similar cloud infrastructure wins for Dell in India in recent months. This is also the first Dell Force 10 win in India post acquisition.

Mahesh Bhalla

Exe. Director & General Manager,
Consumer & SMB, Dell India

Commenting on the win, Mahesh Bhalla, Executive Director and GM, Consumer and SMB, Dell India, said, “Our continued success in delivering datacenter solutions to SMB’s is testament to our robust portfolio of storage, server and networking solutions and related services.”

Shivajee R Sharma, President and CIO, IIHT Cloud Solutions Pvt. Ltd. “When we decided to pioneer an Infrastructure-as-a-Service Cloud, servicing the Training, Test and Development segment, our value proposition was very clear 'Own Virtual Data Centers and not just Virtual Machines'. As an architect my challenge was to build a cloud platform which gives an experience as close to a real Data Center infrastructure and is highly capable of supporting real-time experiential cloud service which is accessible anywhere, anytime and on any device instantly on demand. The Dell Blade solutions enabled us to build the scale and density required for the cloud and Dell Force10 z9000 network switches allowed us to build a highly scalable 320 Gbps throughput IP SAN to support the instant provisioning. With Dell’s customer engagement skills and expertise in providing enterprise solutions, they clearly emerged as our choice for being the end-to-end solutions provider.”

Dell solution components

  • Dell Power EdgeTM M610 Blade servers
  • Dell Power EdgeTM R510 Rack Servers
  • Dell Power Vault MD 1220 Storage
  • Dell Power Connect M6220/M6348 Ethernet Switches
  • Sell Force 10 Z9000 10Gb Ethernet switches

Adding to this, Suresh Reddy, GM, Global Commercial Channel, Dell India said, “It is one of the largest Cloud deals in the country and showcases our growing strength in the enterprise solutions business. With product enhancements, innovations and acquisitions, we have gradually strengthened our solutions portfolio and the results are beginning to show.”

Commenting on the consortium, Sharma said “While selecting the consortium partner with data center co-location services to host our Cloud solution, we were looking for partner with expertise and experience of Cloud platform and ESDS with its indigenously developed Cloud fabric for its Web hosting services clearly emerged as the best Data Center co-location service provider for us. Nestor a core member of the consortium, with its expertise in handling the end-to-end deliveries and it's deep relations with IT OEM's worked with us on this project from the beginning as our preferred solution partner.”

Piyush Somani, MD, ESDS said, “The consortium powered by Dell’s technology has provided us with solutions that will help us run the servers at much lower power consumption as compared to competition enabling us to save the cost of operations. Also, our customers will have a single point of contact for both hardware and networking support.”
