Emerson introduces SmartAisle cooling system

The SmartAisle enterprise cooling system for medium and high-density data centers from Emerson Network Power combines containment technology with intelligent environmental controls, to deliver a claimed over 30% energy savings and 25% improvement in capacity.

The system integrates cold aisle containment with the rack solution. It provides focused cool air at the right temperature and volume directly to the IT equipment and maintains those parameters in changing data center conditions through dynamic adaptive control of room airflow, temperature and humidity. SmartAisle is capable of cooling from 10 kW to over 30 kW per rack, depending on whether internal or external cooling is used with the cold aisle containment.

B.B. Kale, Country Manager, Liebert Precision Cooling business of Emerson Network Power in India, said, “The average rack density of Indian data centers has risen sharply in the past year alone to 6-9 kW, and organizations’ focus is shifting towards energy efficient cooling solutions that deliver high availability. SmartAisle is an affordable solution for all sectors that can deliver the ROI ranging from six months to two years depending on the nature of the deployment. The solution is designed to achieve efficiency and reliability with low total cost of ownership.”

As per the International Data Corporation (IDC), captive data centers are expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.9% during 2009-11, with manufacturing and banking, financial services and insurance (BFSI) showing high deployment. Demand from the government sector is expected to pick up in 2010 and beyond. Emerson Network Power will train its internal sales force to market and service this advanced product line.
