Dell's SaaS-based cloud-based services to simplify IT management and reduce costs

Dell India's new Services offerings as (SaaS) Software-as-a-Service applications brings cloud based IT services to the existing consulting, support and managed service capabilities under Dell Services [formed by the acquisition of Perot Systems] to help companies to reduce overall IT costs and automate IT infrastructure management . The new services are aimed at large enterprises, SMB, public sector and channel.

Enterprises today allocate their already thin IT resources and budgets towards just 'keeping the lights on.' Various studies show this to be between 70 - 80% of the budgets. This leaves very less in the hands of the CIO to invest in strategic projects for the organization. Dell can help to curtail such expenditure, thereby releasing precious resources for strategic spend that helps them innovate and become a stronger business.

According to Sameer Garde, Country General Manager for Dell India, "CIOs are struggling to reduce cost and complexity while maintaining expensive legacy systems and processes. With Dell's new services IT can leverage SaaS to solve key issues around distributed device management, remote infrastructure monitoring, and business continuity and compliance."

Dell's new cloud-optimized SaaS platform offers configurable, flexible options with minimal upfront costs for customers and channel partners to quickly deploy just the applications and managed services they need to achieve superior IT business impact. These secure services automate common system management, remote monitoring and business continuity functions to reduce the cost and complexity of managing IT infrastructure, and are specifically designed to address today's ever increasing challenges with mobility, distributed organizations, security, compliance and disaster preparedness.

Dell is announcing a broad portfolio of new SaaS applications across three key IT infrastructure management areas: client device management, remote infrastructure monitoring and continuity & compliance management.

Client Device Management - Customers today struggle to cost-effectively and efficiently manage desktop and mobile laptop environments. Dell's SaaS applications help customers streamline the most time-consuming, labor-intensive tasks no matter where the PC clients are located on the Internet and without a dedicated VPN.

Remote Infrastructure Monitoring - Designed for customers that want to manage critical distributed IT systems, such as servers, applications, storage and network devices located in branch offices, this service includes heterogeneous hardware asset tracking, fault monitoring, performance monitoring and remote access for remediation. Remote Infrastructure Monitoring applications and services include:

Continuity and Compliance Management - Enhance business continuity, disaster recovery, and regulatory compliance by leveraging a global datacenter network to improve crisis communication, protect email from downtime and provide long-term message archiving.
