VMware to help Indian business drive efficiency and innovation by energizing IT

VMware, the global leader in virtualization solutions from the desktop through the datacenter and to the cloud, has announced new initiatives around its core products—VMware View, the VMware vCenter Product Family, and VMware vSphere-to drive 'business infrastructure virtualization' adoption in India. The aim is to help Indian organizations and their IT departments to shift their primary focus from maintenance to enhancing efficiency and innovation.

Unlike other offerings in the market today that focus on virtualization for individual components within the IT infrastructure, 'business infrastructure virtualization' helps organizations to virtualize all IT assets—from the desktop, through the datacenter, and extending out to the cloud-by leveraging a common virtualization platform and set of automated management processes. This effectively removes the boundaries both within the datacenter, as well as across the operating infrastructure of the business.

IT departments can optimize financial energy by reducing capital and datacenter costs to get more done with less, shift human energy from servicing hardware to driving the business, and save the Earth's energy by using less power, cooling and real estate.

"Most businesses today equate virtualization with capital expenditure savings that result from server consolidation," said T. Srinivasan, Managing Director, VMware India & SAARC. He added, "With a broader virtualization strategy, as defined by business infrastructure virtualization, Indian businesses increasingly realize that they can achieve even more, through savings from financial, human and the earth's energy. We are offering our customers one platform for all of their IT and virtualization needs, from deployment to management and support".

VMware has more than 600 customers in India today, including Atrenta India, Bajaj Auto, Chitale Dairy, Dewan Housing Finance Corporation, Essel Propack, Future Businesstech, i2 Technologies, Macawber Beekay, Mahindra & Mahindra, Persistent Systems, Reliance General Insurance and Religare among others.
