Brief

Technology for the consumer

AGS Infotech and Wincor Nixdorf have partnered together to launch the ProCash 4000 an ATM machine that moves away from traditional Short-Edge insertion and uses Long-Edge insertion technology instead, reducing the chances of currency notes being jammed in the process. The unique feature that this product brings to the Indian market is its ability to validate up to 120 different banknote denominations of different countries and currencies. The system has the capacity to handle 12,500 banknotes that will aid in large volume transactions. The machine has five different trays that identify authentic notes; fake notes are pushed to a separate compartment which help prevent counterfeiting, and also to keep aside notes that are frayed and tattered.

The ProCash 4000 supports personalised messages ranging from informing a user about the latest mobile or car to hit the market to offering a loan to sending a birthday greeting. Customers can conduct transactions even if they do not have their ATM cards readily available with them. They just need to call customer care, provide information for verification, and get an e-card for the moment.

The company’s clients include PNB, UTI, Canara Bank and ICICI, with over 2,000 ATMs in the country. The venture’s recent success story was that of Kisan ATMs with animated screens for illiterate people with voice-overs to help them out and mobile ATMs to assist people in the rural hinterland.

Reinhard Rabenstein, CTO, Wincor Nixdorf says, “In the changing industry, it is important to develop new solutions for customers. And in India, there are tremendous opportunities in the IT solutions market.”
