KLG Systel launches intelligent electricity platform

KLG Systel Limited, a $100 million Gurgaon company, has launched the worldwide intelligent network, www.connectgaia.com. Apart from India, this solution will be available in USA, China, South East Asia, and Europe.

Through efficient energy management, connectgaia.com optimises and reduces electricity consumption while contributing to a less polluted tomorrow. It is a united, interactive and intelligent Internet platform that will pool dispersed and diverse resources and enable the evolution of a power generation, transmission and distribution network that is flexible, accessible and economical. Being accessible through the Internet, this solution is not restricted to any geographical area and is available world-wide.

The solution does not need to conform to any government regulations or utilities for implementation. A box connects to the electricity meter and it can connect to any number of devices/appliances, which can be monitored independently. It can also connect to 60 sensors like a CO2 sensor, or humidity or intrusion detection sensors.

Kumud Goel, Managing Director, KLG Systel Lmited says, “The current energy and environment crisis is a result of our unending quest for development. We have come to a point where it is not development we are facing, but destruction. While governments debate on alternative energy sources and global warming, we waste precious time. We want people to own this solution and not the utilities.”

The solution developed by KLG Systel is built on IBM’s communication protocols, database and middleware technologies. IBM is committed to conserving energy and protecting the environment for which the company offers a comprehensive and simplified set of energy-reducing systems management tools. The IBM SOA architecture has helped connectgaia.com in meeting the complex challenges of building a robust and collaborative platform that can be harnessed to deliver greater efficiencies. As today’s electricity market evolves and looks for new ways to augment global power demand, SOA gives connectgaia.com the flexibility to adapt to the demand side requirements of consumers.

Leveraging advanced metering, sensors, IP communication technologies, the solution works through one or more intelligent devices installed at a customer’s premises after understanding their business requirements, geographical/ administrative entities and their metering and wiring controls. No separate software is required to be installed or maintained with this solution. Customers can log into a secure account anytime from anywhere and view concise charts to pinpoint energy consumption but also empowers them to optimise their resources. Users can also switch on or off lights, air conditioner, equipment and machinery from remote locations through a secure Web page.

Goel adds, “In this venture we are supported by IBM whose SOA architecture has helped us deliver greater efficiency in responding to demand.”

The solution would cost about Rs 10,000 as a deposit and the user would be charged a monthly fee of about Rs 300 to 500. Though it claims to reduce your electricity bill, it may not be a viable option for an average consumer whose electricity bill is only about Rs 1,000-1,500. The solution is more likely to find use in industrial units.
