Team Computers partners QlikTech

Looking at the growing market for BI (Business Intelligence) solutions in India, global players in the field are entering the country. They are either making a direct entry or are tying-up with local players.

Enterprise solutions provider Team Computers has recently partnered with Sweden-based QlikTech to distribute its BI solutions in India. It is the only distributor of QlikTech in the country, and will provide all kinds of support to customers.

Says Ranjan Chopra, Chairman and CEO of Team Computers, “BI solutions are the buzzword among companies which deal with huge amounts of data. BI platforms can turn the key to enable an information strategy that addresses internal and external information to customers, and helps an enterprise cope successfully with its own industry-specific challenges. The tie-up is an attempt on the part of Team Computers to make BI solutions affordable for companies across all verticals in India.”

Team has already deployed BI solutions at Apollo Tyres and Primus, the retail chain. The process of deployment is going on at 15 other clients’ sites as well. The solution, known as Qlikview, is targeted at Indian SMBs.

Chopra explains his go-to-market plan. “To start with, we will take QlikTech’s flagship product, Qlikview, to our existing base of 500 enterprise and mid-sized customers. The solution’s USP is that it costs just about one-fourth of what an average BI solution in the market does; this makes it affordable for price-conscious SMB customers. Moreover, with Qlikview, enterprises can manage their huge databases quite effortlessly as the solution provides the option of memory-based data storage in primary memory (RAM) which gets rid of the tedious and time-consuming data-sorting procedures.”

The solution can be deployed anywhere within two-four weeks. It is priced at about Rs 5 lakh for a starter pack, and can go up to Rs 15 lakh depending on the size of the deployment. The company is planning to target the airline, BFSI and retail sectors in India. Team has already done 32 proof-of-concepts. It has deployed its BI solutions in Britain, the Netherlands and Israel.

Team Computers is planning to open branches in London and New York to optimise its revenue and to make available its BI solutions. It has also decided to open its global development centre at Gurgaon. The company has already opened a development and support centre at Mumbai.

Presently, Team has has a workforce of 1,000 across 45 locations all over India, and is planning to add more to its headcount.
