Bristlecone to expand operations

V Mani

Bristlecone India, a part of the $2.6 billion Mahindra group, and a business process and technology consulting entity, plans to expand its Indian operations. The company, which has development centres at Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore, plans to increase its global headcount to 1,400 by end-2006. It will soon ramp up its Pune centre by adding over 200 people.

Speaking about the company’s growth plans, V Mani, its Vice-president for International Delivery said, “Bristlecone is an important player in the Indian SAP implementation and business process consulting market. We have signed a substantial number of new contracts and expect our business to grow at 40 percent year-on-year.”

Presently, Bristlecone employs over 800 people worldwide. From this, over 700 are based out of India. Mumbai is the largest centre in the country with over 350 employees. In Bangalore the company has 340 and in Pune 50.

“Pune is one of the fastest growing markets for Bristlecone in India, and we hope to replicate our Bangalore success story here. The automotive industry has been a strong vertical focus for us, and considering the size of the auto industry in Pune, one of the largest in the country, we expect a significant part of our revenue to come from this centre. “Bristlecone has chosen Pune for its next phase of expansion and therefore plans to ramp up its employee base to over 250 in anticipation of a rise in the demand for its services,” he said.

Bristlecone’s Pune centre will function as a development centre for SAP-based Bristlecone solutions for the mid-market, as well as a business consulting centre.
