HOB has been providing solutions that open the world of graphical Unix applications to 32-bit Windows platforms. Venmitra specialises in connectivity solutions, and has been catering to the legacy Unix Terminal market for about 15 years; it is also into LAN terminals and other devices on RS-232 and Ethernet-based networks. Its solutions allow the execution of several graphical applications (X clients) concurrently, and parallel to other Windows applications.

HOB’s technology partners include the likes of Cisco, IBM, Sun and Juniper. HOB plans to leverage its MNC clientele by tapping those with India-based operations. According to Patrick Oliver Graf, Director, International Sales, HOB, “The potential customer base that we are targeting would be the enterprise segment.” Though the company sees BFSI and oil companies as early adopters, others will follow soon.

“Customers are looking at holistic suites and will adapt to HOB solutions. Our experience in multi-vendor products allows us to handle LAN and WAN integration issues at all levels, be it a greenfield project or an upgradation,” says Dhananjay Kamath, CEO, Venmitra Systems.

The main modules in the HOB software portfolio are the HOB RD VPN (HOB Remote Desktop Virtual Private Network) family of solutions, the Hotlink terminal emulators (classic and in Java), and the IBM Mainframe optimisation software HOBCOM. The HOB RD VPN provides enterprises with packets for encryption, and allows access to all enterprise applications and data.

“We see India as a great market for our solutions, and Venmitra is ideally positioned to provide the necessary presales and post-sales support. An experienced company in the market was what we were looking for,” explains Graf.

Venmitra has been trained for the past six months on all HOB solutions, and the company expects this alliance to strengthen its position in South-East Asia. “We are looking
at 30 to 50 percent growth during the next year from our Indian operations,” comments Graf.
