Carnegie Mellon authorises UL
Carnegie Mellon Universitys IT services qualification centre (ITsqc) has
authorised Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to evaluate organisations that are
adopting the universitys eSourcing Capability Model for Service Providers
(eSCM-SP). UL joins a select group that the centre is establishing to ensure
that there are highly qualified professional teams to conduct evaluations that
lead to certification of service providers. Carnegie Mellon established the
ITsqc to create capability models and qualification methods to improve sourcing
relationships for global IT-enabled sourcing transactions.
VSNL selects Cisco for broadband network
VSNL and Cisco Systems have announced the deployment of Indias largest
broadband Metro Ethernet solution for Tata Indicom broadband services. The solution
is the largest broadband Metro Ethernet deployment in India, and will provide
Tata Indicoms enterprise and residential customers with quality broadband
services of 10-100 Mbps connectivity.
The deployment of Ciscos technology is in line with VSNLs efforts
to provide triple-play (voice-data-video) broadband services across eight cities
in the country in the first phase. The current deployment has the capability
to connect over a million customers.
Net 4 India forms alliance with NeuLevel
Net 4 India and US-based NeuLevel, a leading registry operator, have announced
an alliance to pitch for becoming the technical partners for the .IN
domain registry in India.
Commenting on the alliance, Richard Tindal, vice-president,
registry services, NeuLevel, said, Net 4 India is undoubtedly a leader
in the domain names market in India. With the companys strong nation-wide
presence, and high-quality infrastructure and support systems, we will be able
to design and manage the .IN domain registry on par with international
standards.
