Infineon Tech to double headcount

CIRCUIT EC / Bangalore

INFINEON Technologies India, a subsidiary of the Munich-based Infineon Technologies, will double its headcount in India from the current 200 to 400 by the end of 2004. Today, close to 80 percent of its 200 employees are software engineers and 15 percent develop tools.

Thomas Simonis, managing director, Infineon India says, “Our Bangalore centre has been significantly contributing to the company’s overall research and development operations. Our strategic objective is to be one of the top four global semiconductor players in the world by 2007.”

Infineon’s centre at Bangalore specialises in core activities such as software development for wireless technologies, protocols, signal processing, security applications, broadband modem and industrial process automation.

Its parent, Infineon Technologies, offers semiconductor and system solutions for the automotive and industrial sectors, wired communication applications, secure mobile solutions and memory products. The company has 30,400 employees worldwide.
