HP’s first Indian data centre

Circuit EC / Bangalore

HP now has a utility data centre (UDC) in India. This is its third UDC, the other two being in Palo Alto, US and Bristol, UK. HP’s UDC comprises servers, storage, network and software. It consolidates, standardises and automates data centre resources and helps in reducing complexities of a patchwork infrastructure. A UDC also helps organisations create a seamless set of resources that act as a utility service and can be tapped by users whenever needed, allowing IT assets to be shared efficiently throughout the enterprise and paid for as per actual usage.

Pallab Talukdar, director HP India said, “UDC enables customers to have high capacity utilisation of their IT assets, which is important as it brings down the cost of usage. Capacity utilisation can be as high as 90-95 percent, which means that cost of computing comes down on a per unit basis.”
