Priya to foray into high-end computing space
Stanley Glancy / Mumbai
After establishing its presence in the personal computer
space, Mumbai-based Priya Group, distributors of computer components and peripherals
and promoters of the Krypton range of products, is now all set to make its mark
in the high-end computing segment. As part of its strategy to foray into the
high-end space, the company has already launched AMDs Optron server motherboard
in the Indian market.
Said
Rajeev Jain, general manager-sales, Priya, The high-end space is
generally dependent on market adoption. The wide acceptance of the Optron server
made us realise the extent of demand in this segment. The market is not large
at this point of time. But there is a demand for such products from graphic
designers, advertising agencies, animation and multimedia firms, hospitals and
other organisations where performance and speed are paramount.
Priya has already launched the Intel 865 and 875 range
of motherboards, and plans to introduce Intels recently launched I8700,
AMDs NF2400U and C18G and Springdale PE/G Micro-ATX mainboard by the end
of August or by early September.
Jain feels that this move will prove doubly beneficial
for the company. Being the first to market these products, it will have an early
mover advantage. Priya plans to leverage this advantage to garner a 20 percent
market share by the end of the year. Other than this, the launch is also expected
to boost sales of its Krypton range of products, which are mainly targeted at
the consumer segment.
