AC power inverter

Compuage Infocom has recently introduced a lightweight compact device that converts the 9 volt DC power generated by the car cigarette lighter (or a battery) to 230 volt AC power capable of running most commonly used office gadgets. The inverter allows most of the AC-powered devices to operate in a car or any other vehicle. Users can just plug the device to the car’s cigarette lighter jack and power their laptops, mobile phones, or other handheld devices. The device comes with a variety of user-friendly features such as auto shutdown with weak battery and low battery alarm, high surge current start for motors, overload, and short circuit protection, and other inductive loads.

SMC Networks recently announced that it is adding a new four-port router, with built in ADSL modem, to its award winning family of Barricade Broadband routers. SMC Barricade four-port Router with built-in ADSL modem and print server (SMC7404BRA) is an all-in-one device designed to help SME and SOHO workers get maximum return on investment out of an ADSL broadband connection.

Priced at $165, the router combines a printer port, four 10/100 RJ45 ports for connection to a PC or network and an additional RJ11 port that connects to an ADSL line. The integrated ADSL modem provides cost-effective broadband Internet access to multiple users (of up to 253 users) by sharing a single user account, and removes the need to buy or rent a separate ADSL modem. A built-in print server also allows multiple users to share a single printer. SMC7404BRA features a firewall with stateful packet inspection, thus giving users some peace-of-mind over security issues.

Connection to the Internet is simplified by SMC’s Web-based management tool, and a built-in DHCP server makes creation and expansion of networks around the routers simple and easy. The user’s interaction with the new Barricade is also an important factor: a graphical user interface is supplied for installation, configuration and management, and e-mail alerts are supplied with the wireless version to alert the user to attempts to hack into the network.

Renew Software’s ReBak v1.0 is an automated desktop backup solution that guarantees 100 percent fast backups.
