SMC Networks
Barricade g 2.4GHz 54 Mbps wireless cable/DSL broadband router

SMC Networks has recently announhed the launch of wireless products for the SOHO segment based on the IEEE 802.11g standard. The Barri-cade g 2.4GHz 54Mbps Wire-less Cable /DSL Broadband Router, SMC2804WBR, is the perfect networking solution for any home or business user looking for a simple, all-in-one network product. This platform-independent multi-functional router combines a 4-port 10/100 Mbps dual-speed switch with automatic MDI-MDIX feature, a high-speed 54 Mbps wireless access point, two detachable antennas, Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) firewall security, network management, and virtual private network (VPN) passthrough support into one convenient device. The Barricade g offers a high data rate that is up to five times faster than the widely used 802.11b wireless LAN and is backward compatible with existing 802.11b network devices. The SIP firewall provides protection against hacker invasions, such as denial of service (DoS) attacks by analysing individual data packets, as they pass through the Barricade g, to ensure that only authorised packets are allowed access to the network.

Features:

  • Control network access by blocking certain websites by entering either a URL address or just a keyword of the website.
  • Provides hacker prevention and logging functionalities.
  • A 10/100 Mbps WAN port for high-speed integration into your network.
  • Provide simultaneous Internet access for up to 253 PCs using a single purchased IP address.
  • Built-in DHCP server to auto-assign IP addresses to devices on your network.
  • By using the Web-based management interface, you can configure this router to handle IP routing and port forwarding through the virtual server option.
  • Full-featured access control option.
  • Allows you to filter traffic through your network based on IP address or MAC Address.
  • Universal Plug-and-Play (UPnP) and Dynamic DNS (DDNS).
  • Supports up to 54Mbps high-speed wireless connection at data rates of 1, 2, 5.5, 6, 9, 11, 12, 18, 24, 36, 48 and 54 Mbps.
  • Supports 802.1x for authentication, Wi-Fi protected access (WPA), disable SSID broadcast, MAC address filtering and 64/128-bit Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP).
  • Allows you to connect to your network at distances up to 1,155 feet.
  • Two detachable antennas that can be replaced with SMC high gain antennas for added performance and coverage.

Neoteric
Umax 2400 dpi flatbed scanner

Neoteric recently unveiled PowerLook 1000, the first 2400 dpi scanner for professionals and semi-professionals. PowerLook 1000 is based on the so-called ‘Staggered-CCD Technology.’ It is the first scanner in its class to be equipped with two 1200 dpi CCD-arrays. With this resolution it is possible to scan even a large number of 35mm slides at a high resolution. In comparison to dedicated film scanners, productivity is higher due to the large scanning area, especially when using the batchscan-mode.

There are no limitations in terms of film format size. To back its claim as a professional tool, the scanner has a fixed focus system with two defined lens positions, ensuring focus on the surface of the slide. This professional feature helps to achieve brilliant results.

Other features of the PowerLook 1000 are the dual FireWire and USB interfaces. PC users can take advantage of the speed benefits from the Firewire connection with the included Firewire card.

A set of scan frames for most common film formats are included. They are designed for automatically recognising the scan areas. Cropping each individual image is no longer required. By just clicking the ‘scan’ button the scanner digitises your image in batch scan mode and, if required, saves it to a defined job folder.

  • System Requirements: Win 98/SE/Me/2000, MacOS
  • Dimensions: 542 x 330 x 105 mm
  • Interface: FireWire/IEEE-1394 and USB

STMicroelectronics
High current, low voltage drop IGBTs

STMicroelectronics has introduced a 200A version of its advanced family of IGBTs that features low forward-voltage drops at high currents. Such devices belong to the low drop family of STs and IGBTs that ensure low on-voltage losses without using any electronic radiation to reduce the lifetime of minority carries. The parts are designed for use in aluminium welding and induction heating equipment, as well as in UPS and SMPS. The STGE200NB60S is part of ST’s PowerMESH IGBT family, which uses a patented strip layout. The Mesh overlay technology is a new strip-based high voltage process made up of a P type mesh structure diffused onto the N-epitaxial layer of an IGBT. The N+ strip that replaces the cells and represents the emitter of the device is then directly diffused onto the P-Mesh layer. The S suffix indicates that this N-channel part has been optimised for low on-voltage drops at operating frequencies of up to 10kHz. At 600V and 100A, VCE(sat) is less than 1V, at an operating temperature of 100°C. At 200A and an operating temperature of 25°C, VCE(sat) remains below 1.3V . The efficiency of the part’s design means power dissipation in conduction is low. The parts are offered in an insulated ISOTOP package that contributes to safety.
