Challengers rely on innovation and technology

In an industry littered with awards that focus only on revenues, Skoch recently presented the Challengers 2003 Awards which bring a unique positioning to the Indian IT industry. The Challengers Awards are based on the following criteria:

  • Companies that are expected to double their market share in 3 years or earlier
  • Fastest growing companies
    Based on the above factors, Skoch has awarded the Challengers 2003 awards to the following firms:
    • PC Retailer—HP
      According to Skoch, HP can consolidate the market and double its retail market share in three years or earlier.
    • CPUs—AMD
      Skoch believes AMD is a company that is poised to double its market share in three years or earlier.
    • ITES provider—Daksh
      Skoch believes that Daksh will be the fastest company to cross over from the SME (<$50 million) space to enter the large company (>$50 million) space.
    • Laser printers—Samsung
      Skoch says that Samsung will substantially expand this market and become the fastest company to cross the 1,00,000 laser printer mark.
    • PCs—Samsung
      Skoch believes Samsung will become the fastest company to cross the 1,00,000 PC sales mark, growing significantly faster than the market.
    • Operating Systems—The SCO Group
      Skoch says the SCO Group is well positioned to double its market share in three years or earlier.
    • Networking—Enterasys
      Skoch says Enterasys has the potential to double market share in a time span of three years or earlier, up from current market share of 6 percent.
    • Inkjet printers—Canon
      Skoch expects Canon will double its current market share of 15 percent in three years or earlier.
    • Enterprise Applications—Oracle
      Skoch says Oracle has the potential to double its current market share of 9 percent, valued at Rs 22.48 crore.
