Infogain, a company specialising in enterprise-wide
applications, has decided to spruce up its India operations, in
the coming year. The company has invested $5 million to develop
its offshore capabilities and plans to increase its employee count
by 350. This initiative comes in wake of the fact that US and UK-based
customers prefer dealing with vendors who can provide offshore IT
services as well as outsourcing options.
Currently 15 percent of the companys
revenue is delivered from its Indian development centre and the
company predicts that with its latest initiative this figure could
increase to 50 percent.
We have had a development centre
in India since 1996. Off late, it has emerged as a major opportunity
area and we plan to enhance its infrastructure to position it as
a player providing bundled services and as a one-stop solution centre
to our international clients, said Abhay Sinha managing director,
India Development Centre, InfoGain.
As an extension of providing IT services
offshore, the company also plans to foray into the BPO segment so
that they are able to provide an opportunity for their clients to
synergise the two businesses. The company is looking to enhance
its presence in the BPO space because expanding relationships with
existing software services vendors results in savings in cost and
management time for the customer.
