Gitex 2003 expo slashes prices by 40 percent

Venkat Pulapaka / Hyderabad

The exhibition prices of Gitex Hyderabad 2003 have been reduced by 40 percent on demand from the domestic Information Technology & Communication (IT&C) industry. The Dubai World Trade Centre and IT&C department, government of Andhra Pradesh, announced that the rate is now priced at a flat Rs 6000 per square metre.

The second edition of the expo is scheduled to take place between January 22-24, 2003 at Gitex International Exhi-bition Centre in Hyderabad. The exhibition is being organised by Dubai World Trade Centre in association with IT&C department of Andhra Pradesh.

The prices have been slashed on request from many domestic IT companies that have shown interest in participation and have requested the state government to reduce the expo prices to enable them to participate.

Following the price reduction, over 50 domestic IT&C companies have confirmed participation and more confirmations are expected at Dubai Internet City, according to Vijay Menon, international project manager at Gitex Hyderabad 2003.

The exhibition’s profile of participants extends well beyond software solutions, and many organisations specialising in other aspects of the IT&C realm will participate.

“Taiwan is making its debut at the expo with its hardware systems including POS terminals and systems, Net PCs and peripherals and will explore project opportunities in the Indian domestic market,” said Menon.
