Apar Infotech takes over 3Genesis
Pittsburgh-based IT services company Apar Infotech has acquired Mumbai-based 3Genesis, a telecom software services company founded by venture fund Connect Capital. Apar has bagged a $1.5 million order from a UK-based telco for upgradation of their billing system and has projects worth over $2 million in the pipeline. According to a company release, Apar Technologies’ CEO Achyut Godbole said the 3Genesis acquisition has made 3Genesis Apar a one-stop provider of large scale system integration and business infrastructure solutions for CRM, EAI, etc. The acquisition strengthens Apar’s telecom offering by complementing the company’s CRM/EAI strengths with 3G’s competence in intelligent network based solutions, messaging applications, protocols and next generation communication systems.


DGFT Signs MoU with SafeScrypt
SafeScrypt, India’s first licensed certifying authority has signed an MoU with the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for digitally signed EXIM transactions. DGFT is the first government agency in India to take such a significant step forward for fast, paperless transacting for the foreign trade sector. All DGFT transactions, which will henceforth be signed with encrypted digital signatures, will prove a big boon to the foreign trade sector as it can now interact faster with the Ministry of Commerce as well as be assured that transactions are secure, authentic, legally valid, and non-repudiable.


Altair appoints DesignTech as India distributor
Altair Engineering has announced the appointment of DesignTech Systems as its sole distributor in India. DesignTech will distribute Altair’s HyperWorks suite of products in India. DesignTech Systems is focused in the areas of developing and providing latest design and analysis solutions to customers for bringing down their time-to-market, reduce costs and improve the operational effectiveness to gain competitive edge. DesignTech is known for dedicated customer support, which enables customers to put the technology to productive use and derive returns on their investments. DesignTech’s offices in the four Indian metros and its extensive network of more than 25 channel partners spread all over the country will provide Altair a comprehensive sales and support structure all over India.


TCS bags Rs 15 crore core banking project from City Union Bank
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has announced the signing of a project from City Union Bank Limited (CUB) for the implementation of core banking and market risk solutions for the Bank, which operates from 124 offices spread across 7 states and two union territories. Under the agreement, TCS will provide a Quartz-based core banking software solution to CUB. This is the first time a Quartz-based core retail solution is being made available to the Indian market. In this turnkey assignment, TCS will not only supply application software, but also assist the bank in setting up the hardware and system software. TCS will have CMC as its partner for the networking of CUB branches. This technology initiative will involve an investment in excess of Rs 15 crore for the bank. Apart from providing Quartz-based core banking software, TCS will implement eBankWorks, its well-known Internet banking solution, and Almity, an asset and liability management solution.


G2P to cover small biz too
Kerala government’s G2P (government to people) project named e-Srinkhala will facilitate business transactions at the local level. Thus, private Internet kiosks in Kerala will provide a facility for online application for registration of small scale units, Keltron’s managing director Ajay Kumar said. The 200 existing Internet kiosks in Kerala will be brought within the e-Sringhala ambit in the next six months, Kumar said. The kiosks will have a special module for counselling farmers on latest agricultural practices. It would also provide latest information on census and electoral data.
