Invensys to ramp up Hyderabad centre

Venkat Pulapaka / Hyderabad

Richard Haytharnthwaite

Invensys Plc, the global player in production technologies and energy management, has aggressive investment plans for its former Baan and IMAPS development centre in Hyderabad.

“By expanding our software development activities and creating the India Development Centre, we are delivering on our promise made to our customers to continually provide them with solutions that generate higher return on investment—which is vital in today’s competitive economic environment. The key is to ensure the interoperability and connectivity of different software systems—and by having our software developers co-located in Hyderabad we are able to ensure that our systems do just that,” said Richard Neil Haytharnthwaite, chief executive of Invensys. He added that the company had already invested about $3 million and is likely to invest more in future.

Invensys is also planning to tap the growing opportunities in the business process outsourcing (BPO) sector. Haytharnthwaite plans to take a final decision on this by mid-2003.

With the success of the company’s IMAPS initiative, Haytharnthwaite said that a significant part of Invensys software development is to be undertaken out of the Hyderabad facility, which boasts of more than 500 employees working on products for some of Invensys’ leading brands including Baan, Foxboro, Wonderware, Avantis, Triconex and APV.
