Occasionally
we do come across great software that isnt so well known
or so widely used. Noteable examples are the Opera Browser
and the Eudora e-mail client. Have you heard about NoteTab?
NoteTab is a text editor and HTML coding tool. Its got
so many features youll be inclined to think its
a word processor. NoteTab has a spellchecker, thesaurus, calculator,
formatting functions, libraries of commonly used text and
commands even a Euro currency converter. This software can
also handle multiple large files through a simple tabbed interface.
Writers will appreciate the Text Statistics, Bookmarks, Search
and Auto correct features. Text Statistics not only gives
the word count but also provides stats about the total number
of paras, characters, punctuation, etc.
NoteTab also doubles as an HTML editor. Theres a library
of HTML tags that can be inserted in the document and cascading
style sheets too. For Web developers theres a library
of FTP commands, and sample Perl and Gawk scripts.
The time-saving features are worth exploring. These include
Document Templates, the Editor Clipbook, clipbars, and auto
replace mode, among others.
There are plenty of third-party utilities, soft books and
plug-ins (various dictionaries for example) that make NoteTab
so versatile. These can be downloaded from the NoteTab website.
And how much does it cost? You can download and use NoteTab
lite (without spellchecker and thesaurus) or the 31-day trial
versions (NoteTab Standard or NoteTab Pro). It will cost you
$19.95 to continue using NoteTab Pro after the trial period.
The standard version costs $9.95.
